JLNDRR’s Les Brouillages / Scrambled series [NSFW]:

For the Les Brouillages / Scrambled series, using video footage downloaded from Internet, I exploit the artifacts, errors, blurs inherent to heavy digital compression and incomplete files.

Dozens of snapshots are generated. Here, the creative process in itself rely on selecting the right images : identifiable as pornographic, but somehow deactivated.

Or something like that. Basically, it’s a really pretentious excuse for the artist to watch scrambled Skinemax. I like the look of heavily compressed video, but it should probably be used more intentionally. Don’t just download porn, grab the screwiest frames and call it art. [via]

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the inventor of instant ramen is dead. His contributions to campus life are universally recognized, and he shall be missed.

In cheerier news, I went to New Orleans over the holidays, which was fucking awesome. It was good to be home, and I saw a lot of people I sorely missed. Here’s my Flickr gallery of the trip. Right now it’s just camera phone pictures, but I’ll be adding more as they are developed.
